Hair Trend Alert: The Side Part Is Officially Back

You heard it here first! The side part is back and better than ever. Yes, that’s right side parts are cool again, whatever way you decide to flip it. The 2000s hair trend is making a comeback, but not to stress the look has been slightly modernized. This aligns perfectly with the current movement away from the polished, “clean girl” aesthetic, characterised by slick buns parted perfectly down the middle towards more natural, effortless and carefree styles.

Why the Side Part Trend is More Than Just Nostalgia

Originally a goto look for the early 2000s It Girls, the side part was once synonymous with skinny jeans, butterfly clips, and MySpace selfies. But in 2025, it’s reappearing with a fresh, modern edge that feels far more elevated and intentional.

How to style your side part for 2025 (and how to choose the best side part style for your face shape)

1. Mermade Wave Side Part

This is our personal favourite way to style our side part (for obvious reasons). Simply just grab your Mermade Waver and just wave away from top to end! 

How to: We personally LOVE using the Double Waver or Double Waver Max to create those smaller natural looking waves like seen on Grace Rosa Jackson. Once you have waved your hair, the Comb Kit is perfect for parting it as far to the side as your heart desires.

2. Voluminous bouncy side part 

If you’re after that more glam, bombshell look, styling your side part with a bouncy blowout or big voluminous curls is the way to go. The side part styled this way gives you an instant old money Hollywood look. 

How to: We recommend styling your hair with our Blow Dry Brush or Spin depending on how big or loose you want the curls. Pair with the Comb Kit again! 3. Sleek and straight side part 

For those more about the simple life and any of you who often resort to wearing their hair straight (guilty), don’t worry, the side part still works great! It looks super great worn casual or if you’re on a night out. We love the way a side part changes up a simple straight hair look.

4. Updo with side part 

Don’t stress - The side part isn’t just for those who wear their hair out. It also looks great with an updo. Wear it slicked back in your pony or left out with your snatched bun. Yes, it’s really that versatile!
