Effortless Everyday Hairstyles: Quick Looks for Busy Mornings

Are you constantly running out the door and running out of time to do your hair in the morning? Well, with our help here at Mermade HQ, there will be no more running out of hairstyles. We have collated our top 8 quick and easy hairstyles to pair with your morning coffee. Whether you're heading to a meeting, a workout, or just need to look put together in a pinch, these styles are simple, chic, and ready in minutes. Say goodbye to bad hair days and hello to effortless beauty…let’s dive into these game changing looks that’ll have you out the door in no time, looking fabulous every step of the way!

1. Messy Bun

The classic messy bun is a staple hairstyle we just can’t move past. Think ‘girl next door’! This look is effortless and chic and so easy to style on the go.

How to achieve:

Step 1: Put hair into a ponytail (don’t worry about some bumps, we are trying to achieve the ‘messy look’).

Step 2: Twist and wrap around the base of the ponytail.

Step 3: Secure in place with a hair elastic.

Step 4: Pro tip: Rub a hair wax between your fingers and apply to any strands of hair left out (fringe pieces and strands hanging out the bun) to add texture to the look

2. Slicked Back Bun

If your day 3 hair gets as oily as ours does, this is the easy, on the go style for you. In the mornings when we don’t have time to wash our hair, we simply put it up and slick it back. With this style you will look put together and sophisticated…even if you don’t feel it.

How to achieve:

Step 1: A secret tip to make slick back styling easier is to spritz with water! This step is missed by many and particularly effective if your hair isn’t at the greasy stage yet to give it some grit.

Step 2: Using the Styling Brush slick back hair and secure into a bun, either low or high depending on personal preference.

Step 3: Considering your hair is already greasy anyways, it would be rude not to make your hair look super sleek by using a hair gel or wax to snatch your look. Just simply glide it from front to back! Or even slick your hair with a hair mask...thank me later.

3. Playful Plait/s

For those of you who want to feel cute and girly, this hairstyle is for you. It’s super low maintenance and is a super simple way to switch up your hair from leaving it out and natural.

How to achieve:

Wear either as a single loose plait or as two messy plaits with your wispy fringe out (my personal favourite)

We recommend spritzing a shine serum or hair oil before plaiting to give the hair a super shiny, nourished look and help the plaits hold.

4. Claw Clipped Up

This is the perfect busy morning hair hack and accessory to grab and go. Our go to when time is tight and you need to quickly tame your hair, without sacrificing style.

How to achieve:

Step 1: Prep your hair with a light hair oil to add shine and tame frizz.

Step 2: Gather your hair into a desired position and twist.  For a messy bun, twist your hair loosely and then clip it into place at the crown of your head. For a sleek look, just twist and clip at the nape of your neck or behind your ears.

Step 3: Clip in place with our Pink Claw Clip or Clear Claw Clip. Pull out strands as desired for finishing touch.

Step 4: Run out the door: With the clip holding your hair in place, you’re free to focus on the rest of your morning routine. Whether it’s getting dressed, grabbing breakfast, or running errands. The claw clip will keep your hair looking chic with minimal effort.

5. Half Up, Half Down

If you’re after a simple way to wear your hair down and out, whilst keeping it out of your face, the half up, half down style is for you. Wear it either loose for a more casual look with some undone waves, or super sleek to attain that perfect put together version.

How to achieve:

Step 1: Section the top half of your hair using the Styling Brush and gather into a simple ponytail. The section should be from your temples up to the crown of your head. You can adjust how much you want to leave down based on your preference—more volume, more hair!

Step 2: Go for a Sleek or Messy Look: Depending on the time you have, you can either make the top section sleek and smooth using a hair wax or go for a messy, more laid back version with some volume and waves using the Double Waver to style.

Step 3: With the top section of your hair pinned up and the bottom flowing freely, you’re ready to go! Finish with a spritz of shine serum or hair oil to add some gloss to your hair.

Extra step: Add a claw clip to accessorise! Our Pink Claw Clip is so cute for this.

6. Natural Waves

If you are super rushed and wish to leave your hair out and natural, this busy morning hair hack is for you. If you already have some natural wave or texture, the Double Waver Max can enhance and define those waves, giving you a more polished and consistent look. It adds volume and shape to your hair without making it look too styled, so you still get that effortless, natural vibe.

How to achieve:

Step 1: Prep and Section Hair: Divide your hair into sections using the Grip Clips (bottom layers first) for easier waving.

Step 2: Wave Your Hair: Turn on the Double Waver Max and adjust the temperature. Take a small section of hair and clamp it between the plates for 3-5 seconds. Repeat along the entire section, moving from the roots to the ends. Continue this for all layers.

Step 3: Shake & Set: Once you've waved all your hair, gently run your fingers through it to break up the waves for a more natural look.

7. Relaxed Pony

The relaxed pony, a fan favourite everyday hairstyle is chic and low maintenance. The best part about a ponytail is that it takes only a few minutes to achieve!

How to achieve:

Step 1: Using your fingers (not a comb), gather your hair at the back of your head where you want the ponytail to sit.

Step 2: Secure into place. Keep it relaxed and leave room for movement.

Step 3: Extra step:  If you want a bit of texture, curl the ends of your ponytail and your front pieces using the Spin before securing it. This adds some soft waves and enhances the loose look.

8. Blowout Made Easy

Last but not least, the at home salon worthy blowout made easy by yours truly! The Blow Dry Brush is a game changer when it comes to quick styling and creating a smooth, voluminous blowout in minutes if you have a few extra minutes in your busy morning.

How to achieve:

Step 1: Prep your hair by applying a heat protectant to protect your strands and dividing it into sections. Use the Grip Clips to separate the top and bottom layers to make styling more manageable.

Step 2: Starting with the bottom layers, use the Blow Dry Brush to smooth and dry each section, pulling the brush from roots to ends. Roll the brush at the ends for added volume or a gentle curl.
